Android devices commonly support LDAC, but availability of other Bluetooth codecs differs among manufacturers and models. The UP Play Max provides a plug-and-play connection that expands the available high-resolution Bluetooth codec options. It also supports compatible lossless Bluetooth DACs, including devices in iFi's portable and desktop audio ranges.

JVCKENWOOD K2 Technology addresses this by restoring high-frequency harmonic information to enhance musical reproduction. The feature can be activated through the UP Play Max controls within the iFi Nexis application, allowing listeners to enable enhanced playback while using their digital music collections. Bask In The Aura
Auracast compatibility expands the possibilities for shared Bluetooth listening beyond conventional one-to-one connections. Instead of sharing earbuds, listeners can use compatible receiving devices to join a common audio broadcast. Auracast allows multiple compatible listeners to receive the same transmission without conventional individual pairing. Participants can join or leave the broadcast independently. Auracast functionality is scheduled to become available through a firmware update following the product's launch.
Play Together
The UP Play Max provides a separate shared-listening solution for headphones and earbuds that do not support Auracast. Two pairs of compatible headphones or earbuds can connect simultaneously using the SBC codec, allowing two listeners to enjoy the same music or movie audio.
Game On
Bluetooth transmission can introduce noticeable delay between video and audio, particularly during gaming and movie playback. The UP Play Max includes a low-latency mode using the aptX Adaptive codec. Activated through the iFi Nexis app, this feature helps reduce synchronization delays for gaming and video entertainment.
Crystal Clear Calls
An integrated microphone positioned at the base of the UP Play Max supports hands-free phone calls. Qualcomm noise and echo suppression technology helps improve voice clarity during communication. The microphone can also be used for in-game voice chat and other compatible communication applications.

The UP Play Max works with iFi Nexis, the manufacturer's mobile application for managing device features and software updates. The application provides controls for connected devices, active Bluetooth codecs, K2 Technology, Auracast and low-latency mode. It also supports over-the-air firmware updates. The application is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
